The 6 months project aimed at eliminating the practice of FGM, and empower women fight cruel acts against them as well as reducing risks of HIV/AIDS infection and stigma through awareness creation. Over 5651 Elwak and Bardhera districts residents benefitted from the intervention. Activities included: training of FGM practitioners on business skills so that they can engage in alternative income generating activities that are not harmful; FGM awareness trainings targeting the influential persons within the community so that they can act as change agents
