The project was as a result of findings on cases where women and girls were being subjected to S/GBV inside the overcrowded IDPs settlements or when on transit from one location to another in search of food and water. It sought to respond to the protection needs of Gender Based Violence survivors and communities in the Elwak district. A total of 4190 individuals directly benefited through activities such as: Training of GBV monitors and health workers on identification, support and referral of GBV survivors; and conducting assessments on GBV prevalence inside IDPs camps.
