The Gedo Recovery Project 2014 was a continuation of a strategy comprising of integrated early livelihood recovery interventions aimed at developing a base for sustainable development projects that will have long term benefit to the community while at the same time incorporating other spheres of needs. Water for domestic and livestock use is a key component towards this recovery. Thus, the main activities of the project included; installation of solar powered pump to a strategic borehole and rehabilitation of water points, etc. as well as addressing livelihood challenges faced by vulnerable groups (156 males: 234 females) in Elwak district. However, this went hand in hand with provision of life saving food aid to help the vulnerable 100 HHs see through the lean season. At least 1693 males and 2039 females benefited from WASH interventions. The project duration was five (5) months.
