The project aims at enhancing access to WASH services in Elwak district by building on the gains from previous Gedo recovery projects spanning over previous years. It seeks to involve the community in addressing their WASH needs through development of sustainable long-term WASH initiatives that have community support. The target is to increase access to safe and affordable water as well as enhancing the capacity of the community to address hygiene and sanitation issues through: construction of water harvesting berkads, rehabilitation of shallow well and construction of communal latrines. The project is funded by Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
