DF (Dialog Forening)
After years of discussion on the best way to impact positive change on the lives and livelihoods of the people of horn of Africa, a group of concerned and competent individuals from Somalia and a team from Diaspora who has roots in the Horn of Africa has formed an organization called Dialog Forening (DF) in 2003. As a Development oriented organization to carry out research activities in order to empower local communities to find their own solution to their problems, while at the same time linking them with the outside world in a two–way dialogue on development issues.
Dialog Forening Somalia is a Somali local Non –governmental organization founded in 2008, whose parent organization is based in Norway. Dialog Forening Norway established in Norway in 2003. After years of the Diaspora coordination meetings of how they can participate supporting the vulnerable community in Somalia. That coordination resulted that the Danish-Somali Diaspora group established the sister organization Dialog Forening Denmark in Denmark by the year 2009. Dialog Forening Somalia has main office in Elwak Somalia Gedo region (Somalia). The organization is registered with the administration and authorities both district and the region level. DF has coordination office in Nairobi Kenya. Our partners in Norway and Denmark maintain desk volunteered officers raising funds from the Somalis who are living in Diasporas and other wellwishers. Dialog Forening operates as a bridge builder between international NGOs and the Somali community; it also collaborates with other Somali-Diaspora organizations, in order to form a platform where all other Somali organizations can cooperate to achieve their objectives.
Our Goals
Our primary goals is to sensitize the devastated Somali community on various aspects including Peace, democracy and human rights, Protection, WASH, Education, Foods security and livelihood sectors an well as disaster and emergency preparedness and response among others.
Mission
To empower the community socially and economically to be able to stand on their own and provide for their families basic needs without necessarily having to depend on relief and hand out.
Social Empowerment to voice their concerns and ensure their needs and also peace advocacy.
Raise community awareness and participation in the process of Development through research and support to the drivers of development within the community in order to alleviate poverty and improve living conditions.
Vision
To encourage Somali Diasporas to participate in the development, reconciliation and reconstruction of Somalia by creating a sense of social responsibility among them aimed at improving the lives of the most vulnerable in the community
